SO Saturday, bright and early I get to head to Arapahoe for a band competion. Blech to the call time, yay to the competition. The band geek in me is excited. Also, the newest season of project runway...SNOOZER! Wesley was gone the minute I said I was rooting for him. (I immediately started rooting for Terry right after but she only just got the boot) Now I don't know who to go for. Also cannot wait for tomorrow... Except that I have class.

okay okay...I know I need a new icon. Has it really been 6 weeks since winchestmidwest? geez! So, I got promoted! Department manager of candy and finally I will get credit for my own work and my ex-boss will just be SOL. Haha!! Also, I have been SO addicted to the olympics and let me say this...I have been a phelps fan from day one. Even when he raced the Thorpedo four years ago and I happened to be a huge thorpe fan...and Lenny krazelburg... the gymnastics judges hate americans and I am convinced of that. Also, school started and even though I only have two classes I am stoked. Yay for Dexter season 2!!

I. HATE. SPIDERS!! I Think that a really huge one laid a nest full of baby huge ones somewhere in the basement where I happen to live and they are freaking EVERYWHERE!! I have killed several with my S.A.M. (Spider Annihilation Mechanism--or shoe that I don't wear anymore) and now, even when they aren't there, I see them. It is very creepy and makes me want to not sleep at night. In other news, there is a new boy working in the meat department and he is tall and cute which knocks out the top two requirements on my preferences list. Plus his name is Peter. That only makes him more cute!! Project runway season 5...soon, very soon. Excited is an understatement.

back in black...or blue, I guess

So I just got home from WinchestMidwest which was AWESOME and I totally wish that it could have lasted for longer, but I suppose that other people have lives they actually want to go back to. So I go to work today and my department was a DISASTER. The first thing my manager does is hand me a list of excuses for why there are three days of freight waiting for me, a heaping cart full of returns and table shirts out the wazoo needing folding...all of which I didn't get to because I am only one person, and even though I look like supergirl, I am not. So now there are two days of work waiting for me tomorrow. Oh! and then I find out that I won't be working the night shift all of the time...instead they're giving me a rotating schedule which means that it will change every week... and who cares that I have classes and my team!! ugh...I like to whine but I suppose I could put more effort into finding a new job...I hate job hunting. I can't wait to be done with school and get a job like the grownups have!! Oh, also...my speeding ticket has been paid. My first speeding ticket. Its totally going in my scrap book...I think more than anything, my family was surprised that I was actually going OVER the speed limit!

stuff

I get it. I need to update once in a while. According to this, the last time I posted was 48 weeks ago. Go me! So...it's a new year and I hope that things keep looking up. Last year ended on a bit of a sour note- I am over it and recovering nicely, but still... here's the deal. Its three weeks before Christmas and I'm going on with my life, minding my own business when out of nowhere this bump appears right smack in the middle of my forehead. It kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger until I decided that it was not natural and called up my doctor. Turns out that bump was a cyst...sist? whatever. The point is, I wanted it gone...so he took it away with promises that I would have a small pink line on my head at Christmas, and the cosmetic outcome would be awesome. Well, he probably WOULD have been right if I hadn't been allergic to basitracin...the main ingredient in the "healing" oinment that I was told to cover my freshly opened wound with. All was going well until I looked into the mirror later the next night at work and I noticed that the bridge of y nose was HUGE!! I figured it was a normal reaction, just swelling from the surgery...I have never had stitches before so I didn't know what to expect. But the next day, my entire face had swollen up and I could barely see. So I went back to my doctor who told me to NEVER EVER use triple antibiotic ointment again. Which I most certainly will not. So the stitches that were supposed to come out that Saturday came out an entire week later, and I looked like I took a sniper bullet to the head, and little kids kept staring at me. Now Rick who works in the claims department calls the "almost not noticeable" mark the mark of the devil. I feel so loved.

In other news, I have enrolled for my second semester and am very excited about it. I am also moving to overnights, which means that my non existent social life won't change a bit! I will also be able to attend Saturday morning color guard rehersals which will be nice, and I get a whole buck fifty more an hour. So things are mostly good right now...which is good.

I resolve to update my live journal at least one more time this year.

Man I suck!

I really should get better at the whole journal writing thing...I went back and read some of my old journals, and it's like reading a pity party. I'm all woe is me and such, and is that how I want my children to remember me? Someday, they'll forbid my grandkids from reading my sad and pitiful saga because it's a downer...big time. So I guess to turn over a new leaf and be the all powerful happy MaHR that everyone knows and loves, I shouldn't post a journal entry with the heading, "I suck." Because that's not a positive way to think about myself. With that in mind...dear future posterity, I have a new car and life rocks. K, it's nice having a car that doesn't require me having to climb in through the trunk in order to unlock the back door to open that so that I could reach through to the passenger's door, walk around, open THAT up and then reach through to open the driver's side door. Yes. That actually happened. And climbing into the trunk was hard enough...the dang trunk door (is that what it's called? hmmm...) wouldn't stay open...I told Maren once, here, hold this up. So she did and then she thought that I meant just for a second, but I really meant for the whole time because as soon as she let go...BAM! headache! In other news...I am good at my job. Why can't the people who give me my paycheck see that?

SO my grandpa's having surgery today because he broke his ankle and they have to put screws in it or something. So I'm at my grandparent's house staying with my great grandpa bob while my grandma takes my grandpa to the hospital...this equals hours of t.v. land...not that the shows on t.v. land are all that bad. And grandpa Bon doesn't really talk all that much. So, I'm bored. Lessee...I have developed a new obsession in the form of CSI- the original one...y'know...Vegas. And I love it. I am looking for a new job...10 hours a week just isn't going to cut it for me. But...other than all that, life is boring. That's really all I have to say about that.

I thought that moving out with my friends would be a good thing for me...apparently I was wrong. In better news, My sister's school just started up a marching band...which means they needed a colorguard instructor...and guess who volunteered for it? Thats right! Me. So on Thursday I have to go down there and check the band out, I get to look for flags and equipment...uniforms...It's kind of exciting. Plus I'll get excercise and that's what I need right now. Also, alphabet, if you read this (and youre the only one that does:))I'm going to miss you!!

I'm actually posting! I had a REALLY good day at work today and I don;t know why...I mean, I like my job, but its a job, they aren't supposed to make you come home squeeing because you're so happy. And it was just little things. I had twelve customers, for example, and they were all so nice to me! And a woman liked the pictures I took of her daughter SO much she wanted the website so that she could order them online. Anyway, I got so many compliments today and it made me wonder if perhaps I have found m,y calling in life. I had like, four customers tell me how great my pictures looked and that I am talented. I'm bragging now, I think, but really, it was so flattering...Like when someone gives you a compliment on your shirt and you just want to wear it everyday because someon thinks you look nice. I just really needed some reassurance today and I got it. Someone must love me :) Also, I seriously think I have arachnophobia...and its easy to see why, spiders are scary...but! I went into my rrom last night and there was a HUGE spider on the wall, and he was black and HUGE!! So I got a shoe out of my closet and went to go smash it, only...I froze. I seriosly got like a foot from it and my heart started racing and I just froze! I ended up throwing the shoe at it. which only put it into defensive mode. It curled up into a little ball and played dead...then it started to move. So I got the broom...I figured...longer handle, less of a chance for the dang thing to leap off of the wall and bite me...so I proceeded to "smash" my little scary friend with said brrom, only to find that Mr. Spider enjoys riding on brooms. I shook the broom, freaking out as I did so...seriously, you would think the spider had been on my foot or something. So then the spider goes flying off of the broom into my stuffed animals, and I wasn't about to go searching through them for him. So I figured I would let him be...Only I was like glancing at the floor every five minutes to make sure he hadn't crept out yet...I found him on the wall again this morning...I smashed him, and now I'm paranoid that all of his little family members are going to attack me...

So...yeah...Thats my life...

I'm updating my journal...and I didn't get a single reminder!! I got a new job and it's not even a big job or anything, its like one of those you get when you're out of high school and trying to make it through college, except that I've already made it through college and I just don;t have enough faith in myself to go and get a really REAL job...not enough skillz...Lessee...I am consodering (and very much leaning toward the 'yes' moving in with Angel and James who have offered me a room in their basement and the opportunity for independence...Now I just need to actually take that opportunity...I am such a coward! I was told on Sunday that my car is ugly but I am pretty and that made me feel pretty darn good. Plus the boy who said (yes, a boy!) is a good friend...and kinda shy so for him to say it...Lets just say, I had a great Sunday. It's like when a couple weeks ago at work a little three year old boy blew me a kiss and nothing any of my stupid cutomers could say could have ruined my day. Ah those tender mercies...umm...I must add, Derek Jeter is mighty hot.

Of course I love Dean too, but Sam's so moody...I like that. Young Riders season one comes out in 13 days...yay!

So I came up with an idea for a Mountain Dew commercial today while I was decorating my dad's 7-eleven refill cup...it had mountain dew in it, thus the inspiration. K...the idea...dad outside playing with kids...voice over says, "Our dad plays with us," and then next scene, dad ordering pizza and voice over (obviously a kid's voice...otherwise that would be weird) "our dad cooks for us," and then shopping in a grocery store with many children, his back is turned, they fill the cart with all kinds of stuff voice over, "our dad spoils us"...then perhaps the family is in the kitchen at the table doing a puzzle or something very family like to do and a voice over... "we love our dad," then, dad reaches for his cup... "and our dad loves mountain dew." I thought it was clever.

Wow...I had no idea that Livejournal did nudges...thank you alphabet for your interest in my personal life. :) The reason I don;t write much is 'cause nothing ever happens to me. A dude at work seems to have decided that hitting on me is fun...which would normally float my boat except that he's not at all hot and he's about five years too young (not to mention several inches too short). It's flattering at times though...so I'll let him hit away. Maybe someday he'll turn into a handsome prince and we can live happily ever after but for now...yeah. Also...I have developed an obsession with Smallville (Die Lana...Die!!) and Lois and Clark 'cause hello Dean Cain with no shirt! And Tom Welling...mmmm. Lets see...I recently was contacted by a woman who wanted me to house sit...except that she was holding interviews so I wan't the only one. Who holds interviews for house sitting and why in the heck was I turned down! Anyways...that's life right now...

They should all live up to my expectations of them. Growing up sux. I made a collage of all my movie tickets since 1997- yeah I'm weird like that...I actiually keep movie stubs. Anyway, I almost didn't have enough room in a 10x12 frame for them all. My mom says she thinks I am obsessed. I think I should point out all of her stupid little contraptions...her THREE cell phones...stupid finger heartbeat tester...yeah her wall of fame!! I mean...I need to be obsessive about something or I'll go crazy. Whew, it feels good to get that out. It's a bunch of mumbo jumbo, but it's there and that's what's good.
Okay so I have a livejournal for a reason I guess...maybe I should update once in a while. Of course, I only have one friend, (hi alphabet!) but what they hey. Maybe someday, someone will happen across my little wisdom filled journal here and be so inspired that they'll write a movie based on me! And Julia Roberts will play me (who says the character that plays you has to look like you) and then Michael Goorjian will play love interest...or maybe Robert Feeney...or Robert Sean Leonard...or...well, the list s endless. And since the movie will be based on me OF COURSE I will be invited to attend the shooting/screening of it and meet all the loverlies that play my love interest(s). Yeah...If only, if only... On a more bitter note, or bitterer since that word if fun, working late sux big time. I have discovered that the easier your job is, the less money you make. Therefore, I have been promoted to "doer of things not so hard" and make my old wages plus half...I can't decide if that's to be celebrated or not... I mean, money rox my sox, but really, now I feel lazy since I have to boss other people around and have them do things for me since I can't leave my "cell" except in cases of dire emergency...yeah....thats really all I have to say now. It is one in the morning and I am not the least bit tired...sux for me...

I started writing in my own paper journal a couple of weeks ago and so this one...well, I never used it!! It just so happens that today, whilst skipping Theater becuase of its tendancy to put me to sleep, I am so very bored. I have a dozen or so things that I COULD be doing, but they aren't very fun things, so to them I say, "Nyuh!" Weirdly, I have recently got my social life back...shocking!! but true nonetheless... It is very strange hanging out with friends who are now married with children, because they fall asleep sooner, or the baby wakes up every ten minutes, or the baby falls asleep on YOU, which actually isn't such a bad thing because babies are cute...but they do some uncute things...like drooling for example. Ew. But when baby is asleep and mom is quite awake, we have a splendid time. Colorado is strange with the weather. See, yesterday it was warm...like, take your jacket off meathead its 50 degrees outside warm...then suddenly it decides warm is not the way to go and turns cold, and snowy. My sister had a two hour delay today (which she decided to tell me AFTER I had already woken up for school...grrr) and when I woke up for real (around 8:15), the streets were dry, and I am wearing sandals, and no jacket (well, except for when I am indoors because for soem reason my classrooms are all about twenty degrees), and except for the three inches of snow that I had to scrape off of my car this morning, there was no evidence that it had snowed. (okay so thats a lie, there was snow on the grass, too.) So...everything rocks! MaHR

...tired...

man, work sucks. It's all one big drama after another. Evryone's cranky and there's gossip like crazy. It's totally driving me nuts!! And school...really three of my five classes are absoulutely great! I DONT WANT TO MAKE POLITICAL ART!! Reall! Politics is in evrything else, why can't I just make millions drawing a tree? Because it has no meaning that's why. Geez, even Mondrian's paintings have "meaning". What, I don't know, but ask any die hard art prof (at least any of mine...grrr) and they'll tell you all about it. And I hate having people interpret my work. I paint a soldier and automatically I am protesting war, or gun control or something insanely stupid....geez...I just feel frustrated right now. I wish that things could just be good...no more drama, please? MaHR

Paul Hamm

Wow. Its been a while since I've posted anything. But I'm just way excited because well...Paul Hamm...so awesome. Luckily I got home at 10 and so I missed the horrible fall. all I saw were two stunning performances and then hello, gold!! It was way cool. So then I rewound my tape (I have been following Mr. Hamm's progress, so its not like I would risk missing his all around!!) and watched him fall and listened to the judges say there was no hope and I laughed and said haha! but Paul is the bestest ever and will show you. So yeah...and you have to love the freckles. Just adorable. Oh! and what about Carly Patterson? Is she the cutest or what! She was way awesome...and I was so surprised to actually see Svetlana Khorkins actually smiling...like, more than once! Way cool. Michael Phelps...hes way awesome...I have a picture of him and Ian Thorpe (why the full body suit? Do we not believe in showing some skin?) and van den hoogenband or whatever his name is...wow. I am only sad that I have not seen much of Mr. Lenny Krazelburg this year. I followed him all through Sydney and now its like he disappeared. Oh well. Thats really all I have to say now.
The Village

okay, so it was a way cool movie and totally had me confused...but the end...okay, it wasn't so bad that I can't watch it again and again, but can we say closure? obviously not. I made up my own happy ending of course, and my sister liked my ending. Anyways, we painted our kitchen today. It used to be white, and now its sandstone...which is white with a cool name and just a hint of gray. You can barely tell the difference. Bicie

blah blah blah

so its 12:30 a.m. and I am way hyper. Which is weird cause I've had like no sugar at all. Maybe its because Ive been thinking about sugar. Anyway, saw the Bourne Supremacy, and even though I thought it was great and I totally liked it, it made my eyes hurt cause ut was so shaky. but I'm over it now. MaHR

cars

sometimes its so annoying having the only operational vehicle in a family with five drivers. My mom's Tahoe works fine, but its hers and shes incerdibly possessive. There would have to be an emergency for her to let you use it, or she'll let you use it if you "volunteer" to go and get her ice cream. Sometimes its just frustrationg. Thats all.

Spiderman

okay I must say how much I loved this movie cause it was a lot, althoug it seemed to have as many endings as RotK. I loved it though. I saw a 10:45 show, and had to be to work at 6 am the next day. Needless to say I was tired and "grumpy" or so my family says. Its amazing how quickly work goes by when you're ha;f asleep. Anyways, its so very nice to get paid for working a holiday that you didnt work. I guess thats one thing unions are good for.
the secret behind the "freshness" of the bakery

yeah, so, I got to work in the bakery today which was nice because I actually had stuff to do so time went fast, plus I get paid more for it. But I also found out that Safeway's "fresh" baked apple pies, come frozen. I had believed forever that our bakers actually made them, and I was disappointed to find out that I was wrong. Oh well, they are yummy and on sale for $2.50, so disappointments aside, I will probably end up getting one before the week is over. Also, I bought entertainment weekly today...Lemme just say that Christian Bale is way hot. Gotta love the accent too. I am totally dying to see the new Spiderman, but have been told that I must wait so that we can see it as a family for my birthday. I think I recall seeing spiderman 1 on my b-day as well...other than that, life goes on. MaHR

sleeping in and waking up early

Whoo! My first day off in like a week. Ah...it was nice. I slept in til 11:30, did nothing all day, the missionaries came over for dinner...I found out that cancers are naturally funny and that I would be most compatable with another cancer. I also found out that cancers are sensitive and moody. My mom said dittos to the moody part...grrr...and also, I tried to find the soundtrack for A Goofy Movie, but could not. Oh well. My sister and her friend want me to take them t.p.ing tonight...we'll see about that. I have to be to work at 7 a.m. MaHR
